POS, also called Posnic Point of Sale. - Category meaning: POS stands for point of sale; the system combines the sale workflow with the software, records and selected hardware used at checkout. - Publisher shown by the public project: Posnic Innovations Private Limited. - Stable channel: v1.9.0, released 2026-09-30; manifest maturity is stable. - Distribution: eight installable packages for Windows x64, macOS Apple Silicon and Intel, and Linux x86_64 or amd64, plus one SHA-256 checksum list. - Source: Posnic/POS, licensed AGPL-3.0-only at the current release commit. - Packaged dependency: the reproduced archived package evidence found MongoDB Community Server 7.0.14 under SSPL-1.0. MongoDB states that SSPL is not OSI-approved; Posnic's source and the bundled database binary have separate license boundaries. - Local edition: documented with zero software price, no timed trial, no Posnic account, and no Posnic analytics or telemetry. - Optional Posnic Cloud: a separate paid service with documented sync, off-site backup, remote dashboard and white-label paths. - Package signing and integrity: Windows packages are signed and timestamped; macOS packages are signed and notarized; direct Linux packages have checksums and detached GPG signatures, and the APT repository is signed. - Adoption signal: the dated release-request snapshot sums only the eight installable stable-package assets reported by GitHub and publishes every included and excluded asset. ## Reproduced evidence - One Windows x64 cash sale, S-O2MA-000001, completed and reopened for INR 125 while external hosts were blocked inside Electron and localhost remained available. - One synthetic API inventory lifecycle passed 21 checks: receive 20 units, sell 2, reject an identical sale replay, return 1, reject an identical refund replay, and reconcile stock to 119 and net sales to INR 138. - One compressed synthetic API counter session passed 49 checks: open a register, receive 50 units, save 12 sales covering 20 units, reject duplicate sale and return replays, return one unit, reconcile stock to 131 and both stored and graphical-report net sales to INR 2622, then close the register with no open session remaining. - One publisher-run Posnic 1.4.0 development snapshot reproduced 8 of 10 ordered synthetic fixture scenarios through the real HTTP API and isolated MongoDB, passed 45 assertions, and reconciled the close to XTS 66.50. Payment decline and pre-completion void were not exercised, and this is not a tagged-release or complete-fixture pass. - One small synthetic archived Windows x64 backup wrote 20 collections and 53 documents, then a drop-existing restore returned the catalog from 26 to 25 items, removed the known post-backup item and retained the original item and sale. The 183 ms backup and 197 ms restore observations are not performance benchmarks or production RPO/RTO evidence. - Stable archived evidence shipped seven structurally tested CSV templates but its browser gate rejects files from 337,920 bytes. Post-release source adds a 10 MiB and 10,000-data-row input guard, a shared quoted-field CSV parser and whole-file plan-limit and duplicate rejection; it is not represented as a v1.6.1 packaged-interface result. In one clean source run, generated 100, 1,000 and 10,000-row files were parsed, written through the real item repository to isolated MongoDB and reconciled to the submitted item counts. - The curated API Jest run recorded 7,953 passing tests, 0 failures and 13 skipped tests. - 35 printer-layout, receipt, report and scale-parser protocol tests passed with no physical hardware connected. - Focused source-test groups overlap and are not customer, shop, installation or complete-workflow counts. - GitHub release-asset counters may include repeats, retries, interrupted transfers and automated requests. They are not unique-person, installation, active-device, customer, business or revenue counts. ## Known limitations - The runtime workflow covers Windows x64 only and did not use an operating-system-wide disconnect. - The inventory lifecycle drove the assembled HTTP API and local database, not the packaged interface, physical hardware, an external payment network, customer production data or a complete trading day. - The counter session was compressed synthetic API evidence. Cash, UPI and Card were stored labels; no physical cash, terminal, authorization, capture, settlement, packaged-interface shift or clock-length trading day was tested. - The backup and restore run used small synthetic data in one disposable Windows profile. It did not test a second machine, an off-machine or encrypted backup repository, ransomware, disk failure or a production recovery objective; its 183 ms and 197 ms timings are not RPO, RTO or throughput benchmarks. - The item-import runtime observation bypassed browser FileReader, UI, HTTP, authentication and packaged desktop. It used exact headers, generated data, one Windows machine and one run per scale; timings are not performance guarantees, the import is not transactional across every row and independent reproduction is pending. - No physical POS device or payment terminal was connected in the recorded evidence runs. - Posnic's own source is AGPL-3.0-only, but reproduced archived package evidence also found MongoDB Community Server under SSPL-1.0. Do not describe the complete binary bundle as exclusively AGPL or wholly OSI-approved. - No independent security audit has been commissioned. - No unaffiliated hands-on review or customer production result is currently recorded in this evidence index. - The vendor-neutral acceptance fixture uses XTS testing values and synthetic labels only; it is not a performance, payment, tax, compliance, customer or product-pass result. - The Posnic development fixture result is publisher-supplied API-layer evidence for exact commit 53f89a159806080d69a8c7e9ec6efb88eeb3674d; it did not drive receipt output, physical hardware, provider payment, the packaged basket interface or a customer site. A separate supplement on exact commit ac56e4a285ae89292644934a0db0a361489f01e7 exercised fixture-shaped receipt parser/byte-renderer paths and the client clear handler in JSDOM, but it was not a packaged Electron run, physical print, database before-and-after void check or provider-payment result. -
