Connect WhatsApp as a Linked Device on the Till

Local WhatsApp mode runs through a linked device on the shop machine. The till must remain reachable and connected for receipts, reminders or campaigns to send.

Choose local WhatsApp modeChoose the linked-device mode and identify the machine that will run it.
WhatsApp ConnectionLive Posnic demo rechecked 2026-09-04. Connection status belongs to the entered device identity.

Choose the Machine

  • Use a shop-controlled phone and a till or local host that is expected to stay available during trading.
  • Create a unique device ID such as counter_01; do not reuse one identity for unrelated machines.
  • Enter Machine host / IP only when the WhatsApp runtime is on another reachable machine.
  • Local linked-device mode stores the device identity and host, not Meta Cloud credentials.
  • A browser-only session cannot keep a desktop-hosted connector alive after that machine closes.

Connect and Verify

  1. Open Manage -> Messaging -> SMS & WhatsApp Providers.
  2. Enable WhatsApp and choose Scan on this machine (local device).
  3. Enter the Linked device id and optional host, then Save.
  4. Open WhatsApp Connection and enter the same Device ID.
  5. Click Connect WhatsApp and wait for the QR code.
  6. On the shop phone, open WhatsApp linked devices and scan the QR code.
  7. Click Refresh until Connection Status reports connected.
  8. Open Test Message, enter a number with country code but without a plus sign, and send a controlled test.

Operate and Recover

  • The Send tab appears only after Posnic sees a connected device.
  • Use Refresh before changing settings when messages stop; a sleeping phone, closed host or expired linked session can explain the failure.
  • Do not repeatedly create new device IDs for the same broken connection; inspect the existing host first.
  • Disconnect logs out the linked session and hides sending until a new QR connection succeeds.
  • After reconnecting, repeat the test message before allowing cashiers to promise WhatsApp receipts.
