What Demo Data Is For
Demo Data is for training and trial shops. It gives a new shop sample products and related records so staff can practice before real catalog setup is finished.
- Use sample data to learn sales, quotes, customers, suppliers and stock screens.
- Do not mix sample products with real stock during go-live.
- Choose a trade that resembles the shop so training feels realistic.
- Use reset when the sample set became messy during training.
- Remove samples before owners start relying on reports.
Install Another Trade Sample
- Open Manage -> Demo Data.
- Choose the trade from the Trade dropdown.
- Click Install this trade's samples.
- Read the confirmation.
- Allow Posnic to remove replaceable sample products and seed the selected trade.
- Open Items and Sales screens to confirm the sample data matches the new trade.
Reset Current Samples
Reset installs a fresh set for the same trade. It is useful after cashiers practice creating sales, editing products or changing sample names.
- Use Reset to fresh samples during training, not during live operation.
- Any sample already edited, sold or received can be kept instead of removed.
- The result may name records that could not be removed.
- After reset, reload open tabs so staff do not keep stale sample rows on screen.
Turn Demo Data Off
The feature switch asks before removing samples. The app is designed to keep real work safe: records that were edited into real products or already used in sales/receivings are kept.
- Turn off Demo Data from Manage -> Features when training is done.
- Read the confirmation before accepting removal.
- Check Item List, Customer List and Supplier List after cleanup.
- Run reports again so owners do not review sample totals.
- Keep Demo Data off for live shops unless training is happening in a separate branch.
