Choose Posnic Themes, Colors and Typography
Themes change how the till looks without changing how the till works. Presets, colors and typography are saved in one place.

What Themes Change
A theme changes surfaces, accent colors, text colors and typography. It should not change the meaning of actions. Red still means danger, green still means success, and the main action should remain visually clear.
- Use themes to reduce eye strain or match the counter environment.
- Use dark presets for low-light counters only after staff verify readability.
- Keep custom colors readable on cards, menus and buttons.
- Reset to Default when a theme makes the till hard to use.
- The Themes feature switch can stop custom themes from applying.
Preset Themes
| Preset group | Examples | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Light themes | Eye Comfort, Clean Light, macOS, Default, Coffee | Daytime counters, office use and general retail. |
| Dark themes | Soft Dark, Warm Night, Terminal, Turbo C, VS Code | Low-light counters or staff preference after readability checks. |
| Default | Shipped Posnic theme | Return here when custom styling becomes distracting. |
Custom Colors
Custom color fields include primary color, background, card background, sidebar background, heading text and body text. Use color changes sparingly on a POS because staff scan by habit.
- Primary color should make the main action visible.
- Background and card colors need enough contrast to separate panels.
- Sidebar color must keep menu labels readable.
- Heading and body colors must remain readable for long shifts.
- Test theme changes on the actual screen size and brightness used at the counter.
Typography
- Open Manage -> Themes.
- Choose a font family.
- Adjust font size between 12px and 22px.
- Choose font weight from Extra Light to Bold.
- Read the preview line and scan a few real pages.
- Save Theme only when the till remains easy to read.
Reset and Recovery
If a custom theme makes the till hard to operate, use Reset to Default and save. The theme manager reads shipped defaults from the stylesheet so the default font and colors remain consistent with the app.
